Presentation: "Around Android"

Track: MOBILE / Time: Monday 10:15 - 11:15 / Location: Filuren, Musikhuset

Android is everywhere these days, and as a software developer you probably will find Android to be a pretty cool platform. Around Android is an introduction to Android seen from the perspective of a software programmer. During the talk I will cover many aspects of Android programming; general concepts like user interfaces and background services, as well as more specialized stuff, such as interfacing with hardware sensors, the telephony API, GPS and Google services.
The presentation will be centered around MoGuard Alert,  an alarm application for Android. Although it is a rather simple application, it makes use of several interesting features found in Android.

Keywords: Android, Telephony, UI, GPS, Google Maps, Android Hardware Sensors

Target audience
: (Java-)programmers interested in developing software for Android

Biography: Stefan Meisner Larsen

I have been writing software for more than two decades and in a dozen or so different programming languages. I work as a consultant, and my current primary interests are Android and J2E application programming. Over the years I have been working quite a lot with software processes and have been glad to discover, that there is a lot in common between the process of writing excellent software and the process of brewing excellent beer - both goals I try to achieve.
